Less than 24 hours after Michael Jackson's death, a few artist dropped a tribute entitled "Better on the Other Side." The song, which leaked Friday, June 26, featuring The Game spitting alongside Chris Brown, Diddy, Polow Da Don, Mario Winans, Usher and Boyz II Men, while DJ Khalil produced the track. Opening with a spoken-word refrain from Diddy, the song is a cut-and-paste affair, segueing into Brown's croon and the Game's somewhat ridiculous stabs at illustrating Jackson's universal appeal.
Diddy on the intro and outro: "You are the one that showed us 'We are the World'. You are the one that showed you we could moon walk. You gave us the beat, the rhythm, you gave us the soul. Through us, your legacy lives on." The Game on the song's first verse: "Everybody bow they head, for a legend / Don't breathe for a second / Now, let the air out, grab the hand of somebody you care about, so you can hear my message / My confessions. Somebody tell Usher, I seen him moonwalk / I guess the young Thriller touched em. Like he touched me, like he touched you, so carrying his legacy is something I must do." Chris Brown on the hook: "This the type of song that make the angels cry / Look up in the sky and I wonder why / Why you had to go, go? I know it's better on the other side."
